- My “Catholic Ladders” post continues to get attention. Fun that a random post on a random article I ran across has caught a tiny bit of fire. I think it’s mostly the “bishops banned this” hook that did it. If you’re interested in that sort of thing (creative catechesis, not banning bishops), check out this post on the pictographs that Franciscans and Dominicans used to teach in Latin America.
- Also, if you’re interested in Catholic history – read Catholic history. Yourself. There are countless books and articles out there for exploring. Spend time on that and expand your understanding of Catholic life beyond the present moment. It might help you deal with the present moment with a bit more sanity.
- Today’s my day in Living Faith.
- If you’re interested in more of the same, check out my Catholic Woman’s Book of Days and then the forthcoming (July) Grace-Filled Days. The first is not date-specific and was, in fact, published over a decade ago and is still one of my top-selling titles. The Grace-Filled Days book is date-specific. It’s the 2020 volume in an annual publication from Loyola. It’s a popular title for Catholic institutions to purchase in bulk and give to staff members – so if you’re in charge of such things, consider it! (It begins with Advent 2019 and ends December 31, 2020. That was…a lot to write. But what motivated me – besides, you know, the contractual obligation, was the thought that every day for over a year, my words would play a tiny role in the lives of thousands of people – every day. It’s an honor!)
