I follow a few traveling-women-camping-vanlife groups on FB (no, I’m not going all Nomadland on you – even though I did think I was going to have to sleep in my car Monday night at a Love’s south of Cheyenne for a while….sheesh). This was posted in a woman-only group of that sort.
I’ve cut and blocked out names, of course. And while I am always and evermore an advocate of open churches and of the importance of the church building as a presence and an opportunity for evangelization, I also totally understand the risks, especially in a day and age in which every day, it seems, we read of tales of church vandalism.
Nonetheless – this might offer some food for thought, especially for those involved in parish ministry. Perhaps.

A good compromise (well..a better than nothing compromise) might be to have the Church open for a few hours once or twice a week with times clearly posted. A local church near me does that, and I’ve worked stopping in for a few moments into my weekly errands.
