There may be a few I haven’t mentioned, but…I don’t think so.
Again, I just went through the blog, and have not attempted to organize in any other way. No ranking or evaluation system involved, either.
I can’t say what the best movie I saw was – but I can certainly tell you the worst. It’s a tie, actually. A tie between Gran Torino and the 1970 version of The Out-of-Towners. Biggest disappointment was Vast of Night, which had been buzzed as a quirky, sharp retro indie, but was shockingly dull and talky.
Most were watched with at least one of the guys (ages 17 and 20 at the moment), some both. A few of the foreign films which I thought would bore everyone I watched all by myself. Not a few were rewatches for me, first time experiences for them. A few I watched twice because I saw it once with one of them, and thought the other would like it – or he just hadn’t been around for the time of the first viewing. Here you go, with a few television series at the end:
Touch of Evil (2X)
Nobody (2X)
The Personal History of David Copperfield
The Great Gatsby (2X)
The Big Sleep
Almost Famous (2X)
Apocalypse Now (2X)
Pig (2X)
The Seventh Seal (2X)
The Out-of-Towners (1970)
Nightmare Alley (2021) (review coming)
West Side Story (2021)
Intolerable Cruelty

I didn’t love any of these start to finish, although I’ll also say that none descended to the level of hate-watching. If I had to, I’d say that Chernobyl was, not surprisingly, the best, with Lupin second – but the second series of Lupin just couldn’t hold my interest beyond the first episode.
- Lupin (part 1- started watching part 2, got bored)
- A bit more on Lupin – reflecting on the power of story.
- Call My Agent! (About 1/5 of it)
- Halston (about 1/2 of it)
- Midnight Mass (1) and (2)
