Late on a Monday morning, in a typical parish church.
I don’t know if you can see everyone in the photo – click on it to get a larger version, and you might.
But here in the foreground is an organist, taking some time to practice.
Further back is a woman vacuuming the floor and behind her is another woman, arranging flowers.
No one is putting their achievements on YouTube or Twitter or even Instagram. No one is going on a speaking tour to trumpet what they’re doing on this morning. No books written, speaking tours announced or platforms built so you can be impressed inspired by what they’re doing to build up! The Body! of Christ!
No one in this space in this moment is asking you to pay any attention at all.
Quietly (except for the organist who sits heavy on the swell when he has the chance), anonymously, each playing a part, building it up, making it worthy, making it beautiful here on a Monday morning, anywhere, everywhere.
