Not pretty cookies, but cookies

January 25, 2013 by Amy Welborn

I just made these because I had a few minutes before basketball practice.  After I finished and went back and looked at the Pin, I realized that the original pinner had said not to bother with the sugar.  Maybe that’s why mine are just a bit more crumbly and not as pretty. But they taste good – nice and chewy (let them cool completely). And just a few ingredients – the Nutella, flour, egg & (maybe) sugar.  You will feel positively Chopped-tastic as you throw these together in no time.

I also didn’t use Nutella.  I used this – which I’m assuming is the same thing (“nocciole” meaning hazelnut) , only a little more pricey – an item I bought at Castroni’s in Rome essentially because I liked the packaging.  Really.  I don’t care about Nutella.  I like retro packaging, that’s all.

Anyway, good, quick cookies.

I’m glad to hear these are good. I saw that you had pinned these and almost pinned them myself, but I was afraid I would not have enough Nutella for my favorite recipe:

    Open lid.
    Insert spoon.
    Scoop out a liberal portion.
    Enjoy.
(This recipe is best enjoyed in the laundry room so that no children see you eating Nutella right out of the jar.)

Nutella is one of the great mysteries of the universe along with the guilting power in Nancy Grace’s eyebrows even when you put her cable show on mute. But Nutella is a good mystery. I love it and never buy it ( like canned cranberries in the berry form which I love and never buy) and I admire whoever thought of putting chocolate with hazelnuts because it would never have occurred to billions of us throughout history… but it works.
