This makes me feel so much better. I am finding that I’m never sure about my punctuation now. My guess is that it is because I rarely ever do anything more than compose a tweet or a text message.
What are you doing to provide art and music for your sons? I’m sure there are community resources you can use for a nominal fee. Earlier today I put a painting class on my calendar. I know they have had lots of opportunities for art and music appreciation.
Call the Poynter Institute and find out what the friends of Lucy Calkins who wrote about kids developmental writing for their age. There are way better ways to do this.
Music – I do a bit here. I play, and we have a piano, so I’m teaching them the basics.
Art – appreciation is ad hoc – museum going, looking at art – mostly religious – in books. Went to the Norman Rockwell exhibit at our local museum, which was fun for them, and there’s a (relatively) big exhibit of various types of devotional art up in Huntsville. We’ll hit that. As for doing art – that’s ad hoc, too, but we do it. The younger one is big into drawing, and we do various other things, I’m always on the lookout for art classes, but can never find one that fits our schedule – but once basketball is over, that will probably change.
