Barbara Curtis

October 31, 2012 by Amy Welborn

Barbara Curtis, writer and long-time blogger suffered a massive stroke over the weekend and passed away yesterday at the age of 62.

Barbara was a mentor to many, both in real life and online – her writings on parenting, disabilities, homeschooling, Montessori education and faith were characterized by clarity, compassion and honesty.

She was the mother of 12 children, and a revert, over the past few years, to the Catholic faith.

Elizabeth Foss has related posts and a link to donate to the Curtis family, especially directed to the cause of Maddy Curtis, a talented vocalist who is a student at the Catholic University of America.  CUA is, of course, quite expensive, and even with financial aid, the family was having a difficult time paying those expenses and in fact had recently been told that Maddy would not be able to re-enroll for the spring because of it.

Pray for the repose of Barbara’s soul and for her family’s peace.

So sorry to hear about Barbara and my sympathy and prayers go out to the family. On one of the blogs (Elizabeth Voss?) there is a video showing Maddy Curtis auditioning for American Idol a few years ago and Maddy describing her loving family. She certainly impressed the American Idol judges singing Leonard Cohen’s Alleluia. Also, in September Barbara wrote a long and loving letter to her eldest daughter Samantha.
