One of those things that it irritates me to purchase already made because you pay so much in a bakery, and they are so simple to make, really. Especially if you have a food processor, which removes the “I don’t know how to cut solid fats into dry ingredients” fear factor, if you’re so afflicted.
Mix the dry ingredients, put in food processor, add cut-up butter pieces, pulse, add wet ingredients, turn out on counter, shape, bake. Takes hardly any time.
Recipe? This one – except I didn’t have sour cream. I had some heavy cream though, and I mixed it with a little ricotta. I have no idea if it’s a legit substitute, but I thought that since it was the thickness of the cream that was called for, this might work. It did.
Plate? My favorite – discounted, mismatched restaurantware. I get it here. That small platter probably cost a dollar.

I’m dieting through the Heat-Celtics game right now and these scones are not making it any easier….and your dish reminds me that a favorite discontinued Pfaltzgraff dish of ours is breaking slowly this week where we mended it. But with all that, it’s a nice photo of scones to dream on.
Responding to your scone photo as a Carthusian would respond to remote preparation at a much higher spiritual level, I attended a bakery this Sunday AM. I’ll spare you the details. You’ve all seen “Jaws”….or Animal Planet when a cheetah takes down prey. Now I shall return to my diet…after this momentary relapse.
