Live from Long Island…

May 14, 2010 by Amy Welborn

Friday  morning, artist Ann Kissane Englehart, illustrator of the book of Pope Benedict XVI’s conversation with First Communion children, Friendship with Jesus (original blog post here) will be on the program Everyday Faith produced by Telecare, the television station for the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

(Here’s a pdf of the entire book)

(There’s a discount code on this ad for the book in the UK Catholic Herald)

You should be able to watch it live online - the show runs from 10:30-11:00 AM Eastern, and Ann is scheduled for the second segment.

And speaking of the Holy Father, if you have not been following his visit to Fatima, you may do so here – almost everything he has said so far has been translated and posted at the Vatican site except (at this writing) for his talk to bishops today, which was very strong (not surprisingly).  It’s at Zenit, here.

Congratulations on this! Ann is a friend of mine and I got to spend the whole afternoon with her yesterday. It was fabulous. I am quite happy for the both of you. The book is simply gorgeous.

Amy, that book is so beautiful! My daughter made her First Communion on Saturday. It was such a wonderful moment and blessed day for her. Thank you for sharing the pdf. I would love to read it with her, but I’m afraid I would just cry, I find it so moving. It says so much about who our Holy Father is. Gentle, yet profound in his teaching, always bidding us to draw ever closer to Christ.

    Hey Amy:

You are in my old stomping grounds when I was little. We moved in 1970.

If you have time, drive out to West Islip to Boulevard Ave. My old street.

Enjoy it… it has been over 20 years since I have been back.

If I go back, I have several missions to do.

I owe you one if I ever see you in person. Email me personally and ask what it is. I can drive to Bham to give you a copy. Long story involving a pic of the Pope before he was Pope and when he was a Monsignor. I met him and then Cardinal Karol in Sept 69 in North Babylon near there.

Again, have fun. Eat NY Pizza pie…..

Does this lady do other books as well? Ask her and give her my email.

    Hi Jeanne:

I wasn’t in Long Island – just Ann and the program.

I was just wondering, Amy, why deacons are omitted from your prayer. Are they not workers in the vineyard, too?

Oops. I need to write the Pope. Nevermind……

I just got the book today. It is so beautiful! I hope to give it to my grandson next year when he makes his First Holy Communion.

Thanks to you and Ann Engelhart for creating such a masterpiece from our dear Holy Father’s conversation with these children.

    Amy,
Our pastor is interested in ordering 100 copies (depending on the price) for the Fist Communion Class of 2010 – is there a way to contact the publisher to see if a group rate is possible?

I’ll email you w/the publisher’s info. Watch for it!
